Our First Tournament in Memory of "D"

Known to her grandchildren as “D”, Diane was an avid Mah Jongg player as well as my mom. In addition to teaching me at a young age, she taught many others to play the game: her friends, my friends, and our family- most importantly, her grandchildren.

In February 2020, immediately following a heart procedure, my mom passed away suddenly. In addition to being a Mah Jongg maven, she was a petite, healthy woman, who ate salad, drank water, and practiced pilates almost daily. No one would have guessed she would suffer from heart disease.

We chose to hold our first Moms Play Mah Jongg Tournament in February, American Heart Month, in D's memory. A portion of proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association to raise awareness for heart health in women.
